January 2024 saw thefoodpeople have their 18th birthday – 18 Years in Trends

To celebrate we're delighted to announce the update of our e-book - 18 Years in Food and Beverage Trends!

For 18 years, rooted in our intent - to shift the future of food and drink by inspiring and informing people, business and institutions to harness the power of trends and foresight, we have meticulously and rigorously mapped food and drink trends around the globe, which has enabled us to write this book.

During this time, by leveraging our global network, combined our TFP 'human intelligence' to interpret emerging trends, we've reported on and predicted monumental shifts in our food and drink landscape. Everything from plant-based eating, Korean food, new nordic cuisines, gut health, fire cooking, cronuts, cultured meats to zero waste eating, robotics, delivered meal kits, ruby chocolate, hyperseasonal, sustainable restaurants and rainbow lattes. Just a tiny handful from many thousands of trend manifestations that have emerged over the last 18 years.

The e-book covers it all - what events, people, culture, regulations, technologies, and products defined these years, what were the changes and what does it mean for the future? We summarise the key takeouts and learnings, the influences for the future and using our unique trend archives, map the fine detail of the food and drink timeline from 2006 to 2023 - the products, services, restaurants, chefs, flavours, ingredients, colours, global events, the diets, the tech, the politics, the awards and much much more!
