New Opening Highlights in November

We've once again rounded up some of the exciting new openings in November across the food and beverage industry from around world. Our list this month includes venues from London, Chicago and Hong Kong.

Popeyes, London

American fried chicken powerhouse Popeyes has chosen Westfield Stratford as home for its new flagship London restaurant, one which opened in November. The new UK menu will not differ from that over in the U.S., best known for its popular tenders, nuggets and the infamous fried chicken sandwich. Flash Coffee, Hong Kong

Hong Kong has welcomed the tech-enabled coffee chain Flash Coffee which opened its first shop in Jakarta back in January 2020. The brand allows customers to download its mobile app where they can then order, pay and customise their coffee online before collecting it in-store or have it delivered. As for the coffee, they use 100% Arabica beans that are lightly roasted to retain its natural aroma and flavour. Hong Kong has some exclusive flavours including peanut butter condensed milk latte, black sesame latte and red bean iced latte.

Carmel, London

The team behind Berber & Q, brothers Josh and Paul Katz together with Mattia Bianchi, opened their latest restaurant in Queen's Park last month - Carmel, with a North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean inspired menu. This new all-day restaurant kicks off with a breakfast that includes challah French toast with crème fraiche, blackberry compote and macadamia, or shakshuka with confit tomato, avocado, and tahini. From lunch on dishes include Mussels escabeche bruschetta, Grilled turbot and clams, Middle Eastern flatbreads or Blackened aubergine with tahini and smacked cucumber.

Alla Vita, Chicago

Alla Vita is the latest restaurant from Michelin-starred chef Lee Wolen and the Boka Restaurant Group. It takes over the spot that Bellemore once stood but takes on a more casual vibe than its predecessor. Wolen celebrates Italian cuisine with pasta, pizzas and other dishes out of a wood-burning oven. Pizzas are round with crispy, airy crusts whilst there is a selection of five to seven pastas to choose from.

The Great Feast, Old Selfridges Hotel, London

London's Old Selfridges Hotel kicked off the festive period with the opening of The Great Feast, a pop-up featuring food from a number of star names. Amongst the chefs featured are A. Wong's Andrew Wong, Selin Kiazim of Oklava, and Chef Patron of Restaurant Story Tom Sellers as part of a four-stage experience. This immersive food palace is the brainchild of Street Feast founder Dominic Cools-Lartigue, featuring an extravagant food counter, aptly called the "Counter of Joy" alongside a dessert experience delivered by Chin Chin Labs and cocktails from Rich Woods, a.k.a The Cocktail guy, named Wonky Dreams.
