New Openings Highlights in August

Each month we track the latest openings across the food and beverage hospitality sector that have caught our eye - here are some of the highlights from August.

Pizzeria Mozza, UK
Renowned LA chef Nancy Silverton opened her debut London restaurant last month as her popular American venue Pizzeria Mozza comes to the Treehouse Hotel in Marylebone. A pioneer of sourdough and Californian cuisine from since the 1990s, Silverton's countless awards include a Michelin Star for Los Angeles restaurant, Osteria Mozza so her debut in London is a much anticipated one.

Public Wine Shop, Australia
Ali Currey-Voumard, the chef who helped Tasmania's Agrarian Kitchen earn two hats, is back in Melbourne. She is in charge of the kitchen at Campbell Burton's Public Wine Shop where the pair have created an intimate open-plan space with a communal table where guests can watch her prepare their meals. The space is small and there is no grill, just a stove and bench where she creates dishes like poached chicken and mustard greens, fresh pastas and raw meat dishes such as tartare and charcuterie.

KFC Fried Chicken Hotel, UK
QSR chain KFC opened a friend chicken hotel in Shoreditch, London, this August for a limited time only with all proceeds going to the KFC Foundation. The one-of-a-kind venue was called House of Harland after KFC's brand mascot, Colonel Harland David Sanders and was open for 11 days from 18th August.

Sunday In Brooklyn, UK
The well known New York restaurant, Sunday in Brooklyn, has made its way to London's Notting Hill bringing with it some of its best loved dishes from the original restaurant. brunch is a big part of the menu and its best known dish, the Sunday pancakes with hazelnut maple praline and brown butter is sure not to disappoint. Other choices include the Cauliflower Patty Melt with sambal, sauerkraut & Swiss cheese and Biscuits and Gravy with drop cheddar biscuits, sausage gravy, poached eggs and sambal, all served up with a New York vibe.

St James Quarter, UK
Having been a long time coming, this development in the east end of Edinburgh has finally opened its doors. A revamp fo the old St James Centre, the location is home to luxury flats, shops, a new W Hotel and, of course, lots of fun things to eat. Alongside national franchises such as Krispy Kreme, Starbucks, Hotel Chocolat, Salerno Pizza and Sushi Samba there are a load of local operators as well. For example, Bross Bagels is opening their fifth Montreal style bagel shop and a food hall called Bonnie and Wild (from the team behind Mac & Wild) is showcasing some more local talent.

Osteria BBR by Alain Ducasse, Singapore
Raffles Hotel's Bar & Billiard Room is the new home of chef Alain Ducasse's Osteria BBR. The restaurant is focusing on modern Italian under the watchful eye of Head Chef Francesco Soletti who has drawn on his Italian heritage to create a menu of Italian classics with a contemporary touch. Diners will find dishes such as the Sea Urchin Risotto, Bistecca alla Fiorentina and Signature Baba with limoncella and whipped cream.
