As the UK's leading international tennis tournament comes to a close this weekend, we take a look at what food and drink the thousands of fans have been consuming at Wimbledon this year.
With the continued rising costs of food across the board with the ongoing cost of living crisis, it comes as no surprise to hear that one of the main talking points in regards to the food at Wimbledon this year is that it's expensive. Looking past that for now, we had a nose around to see what else was being spoken of in regards to the food and beverages being enjoyed this July.
At Wimbledon itself, quick snack options have been the most popular go to with a new for 2023 Express Picnic available, one which comes with a canvas tote bag with the crossed strawberry racket-head motif, and available at The Larder on The Hill, the Walled Garden and the Tea Lawn. You pick a main (sandwich or salad), a snack (popcorn or crisps), a dessert (strawberries, chocolate bar or fruit) and a drink for £12 or £14.
The premium feel remains though despite it being a simple meal deal type format with sandwich fillings including Wiltshire Ham & Farmhouse Cheddar, Free-Range Egg & Watercress, and Pole + Line Tuna & Cucumber. Salads include Poached Salmon, Kale Caesar with Smoked Mozzarella, and Feta, Watermelon and Mint.
More formal sit-down dining options at Wimbledon include the Centenary Brasserie, with a relaxed environment, serving a variety of classic Brasserie dishes; the Centenary Seafood Bar situated on the top floor of the Centenary Garden, offering a seafood bar with views across the Southern courts; and The Wingfield, which champions seasonal British produce.
